According to data from the Croatian statistical office, the country spent 146.5 million Euro on fruit imports in 2014; 3.9% more than in 2013, when purchases were made totalling 140.9 million Euro.
Croatia's main fruit supplier is Italy, with 21.8% of the total value of Croatian imports, followed by Slovenia with 11.7%, Spain with 11.1%, Ecuador with 9.4% and Germany with 6.2%. Greece appears eighth in the ranking with 4.9% and a value of 7.2 million Euro.
The first place in terms of value corresponds to bananas, followed by citrus, apricots-peaches and apples-pears. The biggest increase, of about 25%, was recorded by banana imports, followed by strawberries-raspberries, which registered a 20.3% growth.
