WASHINGTON, August 17, 2015 – Givaudan Flavors Corporation, a Florence, Ky., establishment, is recalling approximately 3,950 pounds of beef tallow products produced in Australia that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Without the benefit of full inspection, a possibility of adverse health consequences exists.
The beef tallow products were manufactured by York Foods Pty. Limited, Australia - Establishment 133 and were imported through Chicago. The following products are subject to recall:
50-lb. bags of generically labeled, powdered “Givaudan Flavors Corporation NATURAL BEEF FLAVOR WONF.”
The products subject to recall bear the Batch numbers: DV00130741, DV00130967, DV00134737 and DV00136669 on the label. The products were produced on May 15, May 18, July 7 and July 30, 2015.
The beef tallow was used in the production of the powdered beef flavor which was then shipped to locations in Ohio and Texas for further processing.
The problem was discovered during FSIS routine monitoring of imported shipments using Public Health Information System data by Recall Management and Technical Analysis Staff. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
