General Mills is set to re-introduce four of its seasonal Fall flavours under its Yoplait yogurt brand.
Original Apple Crisp, Light Pumpkin Pie, Greek 100 Caramel Apple and Greek 100 Whips! Pumpkin Cheesecake will be made available at stores from 21 September.
These flavours will be limited-edition only and consumers can either opt for a single-serve cup or the fridge pack.
Yoplait is an important brand of General Mills. It returned to profits in 2015 after it saw sales dip in the earlier two fiscals. An increase in volumes and market share gains were the primary drivers for the revival of the yogurt business.
The company embraced re-branding and new marketing strategies and investments to bolster the brand.
The company expects the Fall flavours to contribute to the volume boost of yogurt business in the next quarters.
The new yogurt products will contain more milk and natural flavours and less sugar content. There will be 20 fewer calories and 1 extra gram of protein.
In May 2015, General Mills announced that it was reducing sugar content in its Yoplait line of yogurt by 25% while clarifying that the taste would remain unaffected. The move was made to appeal to health conscious consumers.
