The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, a premium single malt scotch whisky, was introduced in India by Pernod Ricard on Friday.
The launch function had a blend of music and literature, amidst this, international brand ambassador Alex Robertson unveiled the new Glenlivet portfolio, a tribute to the founder George Smith’s original version.
During his opening speech, Robertson said, “The Glenlivet is handcrafted to meticulous perfection. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve is a new, permanent benchmark expression in the brand’s core range, giving it a supreme place in every connoisseur’s list of favourites.”
“To pay our beloved founder George Smith, we have researched heavily the tastes and preferences of India. Indians are subjected to more of multi-blend malt whisky, to break the trend we have introduced the Glenlivet Founder's Reserve, which is a single malt whisky,” he added.
He stated, “I am incredibly proud to have been part of the Glenlivet’s rich history and legacy. It’s indeed a pleasure and an honour to unveil The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve in front of such distinguished guests. This is my fifth visit to India, where our brand is the number one in single malts and I must say Indian cuisine is one of the best in the world. The cooking style, richness and taste just make it ideal to pair with The Glenlivet.”
Varieties of the Glenlivet - normal, 15 years old and 18 years old - were served to those who were present at the dinner.
“The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve has at its core the perfectly balanced smooth and fruity flavour that The Glenlivet is renowned for,” he added.
Commenting on the launch, Kartik Mohindra, head, international brands, Pernod Ricard, India, said, “Founder’s Reserve brings to life the heart and soul of the Glenlivet. A single malt that traces its roots to the original flavours – the single malt that started it all. We are proud to present this new expression as the latest addition to our prestigious portfolio of premium spirits.”
“The Glenlivet is priced between Rs 4,750 and Rs 6,800 per 75 cl bottle. Prices will vary in each state. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve will be available in Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai and Bangalore. Also it will be available on the leading airports. Later, depending on the sales and performance of the product the pricing will be revised and also the product will be made available nationally,” said Mohindra.
Others present on the occasion included author Vikram Seth who mesmerised the audience with his poetic references to whisky and created a literary ambiance. The launch was preceded by a book reading session by Seth to illustrate the philosophy of the brand.
