Core Tip: A review suggests that vitamin C supplementation can help lower fasting blood sugar, but have no effect on glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
Sunday Nov 22, 2015  -- A review suggests that vitamin C supplementation can help lower fasting blood sugar, but have no effect on glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

The review based on data from five randomized control trials shows that the standardized mean reduction in fasting blood sugar was 21 mg/dL in diabetes mellitus patients who took vitamin C supplements.

Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid may not only help diabetes mellitus, but also other health conditions.  It is believed that diabetes mellitus type 2 has something to do with oxidative stress and vitamin C as an antioxidant can help reduce the oxidative stress.

Vitamin C is very safe to use even though the recommended daily allowance is fairly low.   Vitamin C supplements can be purchased from online or your local health stores.
