US Foods will acquire Wisconsin-based foodservice distributor Dierks Waukesha for an undisclosed amount. The move is intended to strengthen US Foods’ foothold in the Upper Midwest.
Dierks Waukesha is a family - owned company that has been supplying plate items, produce and vegetables to around 3,500 customers throughout US regions of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Minnesota.
US Foods Midwest region president Russell Scott said: "Dierks has been a top foodservice provider for restaurants throughout the area since 1963 and you don't stay in business that long without doing things right.
"We are excited to build on the great reputation of Dierks and introduce its customers to the innovative products and best-in-class marketing, technology and business solutions that have made US Foods an industry leader."
Following the acquisition, US Foods will service customers from both the distribution centers in Wisconsin and the Dierks distribution facility in Waukesha.
One of the owners of Dierks Thomas Muehl and Dierks CEO Kevin Musser will join US Foods. They will be assigned with the task of transforming the business in order to provide seamless customer service.
The acquisition is expected to be completed on 31 December 2015.
US Foods offers more than 350,000 products, including brands such as the innovative Chef's Line, and Rykoff Sexton, which is a line of specialty ingredients sourced globally. The company employs around 25,000 people in more than 60 locations nationwide.
