Revival, a chain of thali restaurants in India and abroad, recently introduced at its outlets - Undhiyu Festival, a festival dedicated to Gujarati delicacy Undhiyu, which is made mostly in winter. The festival will be on till February, 11, 2016.
Offering details, Kamlesh Barot, director, VIE Hospitality, states, "Undhiyu is an integral food item of Gujarat, specifically during the winter season. We've been doing this festival for many years now, for our erstwhile Rajdhani and now Revival restaurant."
He added, “It's a sought-after festival for our patrons, since the past four decades. The idea germinated when our guests demanded during one of our Chai Pakoda festivals, Undhiyu that was served on our thali menu, to be tossed live and packed as a take-away dish. We set the "Undhiyu" counter as a winter festival feature and have been celebrating the festival year after year, since then.
The outlets rolling the festivals are Chowpatty Seaface, Dwarka Nashik, Rolla Street - Dubai, Emerald Club-Chembur and Udaipur.”
Speaking about the response to the festival, Barot said, “It's been very good, specifically for our a' la carte guests, who invariably pack a few portions after trying it in the restaurant.”
Dishes that are available at the festival include Undhiyu by the portion as an a' la carte dish, also by the kilo for take-away and as a combo with signature Smoked BBQ Chaas, Bajri Rotlo, garlic chutney and home-made butter or as a combo with Shrikand-Puri.
After the Undhiyu festival, Barot, said, "We are planning to do the "Holi" festival, where our guests partake the specially created Holi food menu, with a packet of Holi colours to play Holi, from our restaurants."
"Our outlets are expanding in the coming period from the present outlets in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Dubai to the USA, UK and Hong Kong abroad and domestically in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. We are investing substantially in these expansions," said Barot while talking about the expansion plans.
