The fruit and vegetable departments of Globus hypermarkets were awarded the “Fruchthandel Magazine Retail Award“ at the Fruit Logistica this year. It is the fifth time that Globus has won this prize.
The award was presented at the opening of the international trade fair in Berlin on Tuesday. The award is based on an annual survey of the German Society for Consumer Research (GfK); they interviewed 9,000 German households about their satisfaction with fruit and vegetable departments in German stores.
“The Retail Award is important for us, since it is the positive feedback of our customers that confirms we are doing our job,” says Tim Strübing Purchasing Manager Fruit & Vegetables who accepted the award for Globus.
Up to twice a day the Globus hypermarkets receive fresh fruit and vegetables. The range of fruit and vegetables is large and fresh, from local produce to exotic products from all over the world. The average assortment contains 500 items. “The current trend of local products can be found in fruit and vegetable departments too. That is why we value the large choice of fruit and vegetables of our local partners,” explains Tim Strübing.
Service and advice are particularly important in the fruit and vegetable departments of Globus. Every employee gets extensive training. And Globus offers, together with two partners, a six-month course "Retail fruit & vegetable specialist.” The content of the training program is varied and ranges from fruit cultivation, production and supply chains to customer service.
