Nestle UK has officially opened its revamped coffee production factory in Tutbury, Derbyshire, following a £325m investment.
It is claimed to be the first coffee factory in the country to feature all forms of coffee production, including freeze-dried, spray-dried and pod technology.
The production plant had 1,000 people working in its manufacturing and engineering segments, 23 apprentices and nine graduates.
An additional 425 job opportunities have been created after the investment.
More than 1.8 billion Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee capsules were produced in the Tutbury factory last year, 85% of which was exported to 70 markets worldwide, including France, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Mexico and the US.
Nestle UK and Ireland chairman and CEO Dame Fiona Kendrick said: "We are taking the UK's productivity challenge incredibly seriously at Nestlé and this investment has made Tutbury one of our best examples of that.
"We have made processes more efficient, given our employees new skills and equipped them with state-of-the-art machinery with which to do their job."
The Tutbury factory was built in 1901 to produce condensed milk.
In 1959, it underwent its first transformation and began to manufacture Nescafe soluble coffee.
Over the last five years, Nestlé has invested £100m in the factory.
