“Last year our Fuji apples have been granted access to the US and Canada. This is great news for our export business. In order to receive market access, the application needs to pass the Chinese, American and Canadian Inspection and Quarantine Services for approval. Market access is a big step forward. We were granted market access in December and we hope to start exporting later this Spring.”
“Last year, the fruit import market was not good. Of all our import products, bananas are the most stable. We also import cherries, oranges, grapes and avocados, but we do this now in smaller quantities. There are two reasons why import sales are slow. We are located in Dalian in the North of China. The economy in this region has slowed down stronger than in the big cities like Shanghai and Beijing. The region is also slightly more conservative. New products, such as avocados, that are not well known need to be introduced to the people. We now plan a marketing a campaign to inform people about how to eat avocados, how to recognise their ripeness and quality.”
“We are a large company. We have integrated cold chain logistics and cool storage facilities and we run over 40 cold chain trucks. We want to expand our sales team and we are looking for new talents. Next to fresh produce we also run a large seafood and ice cream branch. An option for us could be to start cooperation with a multinational that wants to expand in China. We could roll out a bilateral cooperation with a Chilean or American Group. We have the financial capacity to invest and we want to grow.”
