In February 2016, compared with the same month a year earlier, average apple prices on wholesale markets were 37 percent higher, for exporting companies, they were 38 percent higher, and in horticultural cooperatives they increased by 40 percent. The prices offered by processing plants for apples for pressing were 20 percent higher, as revealed in a report from IAFE.
Regarding other products, the price of pears at cooperatives fell by 13 per cent and those for export recorded a 9 percent drop. Meanwhile, in the wholesale markets (partially due to imports), prices increased by 3 percent. On the wholesale market, some products recording higher prices include lemons (about 57 percent), grapes (11 percent) and mandarins (by about 6 percent). Only bananas have become cheaper (by about 2 percent), and orange prices have remained stable.
