Core Tip: The recall has been issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) after at least 12 people have fallen ill in three provinces.
Canadian frozen dessert supplier Nature's Touch has recalled its Organic Berry Cherry Blend brand in the country due to possible Hepatitis A contamination.

The recall has been issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) after at least 12 people have fallen ill in three provinces, reported Food Poisoning Bulletin.

The recalled product has been sold at the warehouse locations of Costco Wholesale that includes Quebec, New Brunswick, Ontario, Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.

The recalled product is available in 1.5kg packets.

The code on the product is expiry dates up to and including 15 March 2018, while the UPC number is 8 73668 00179 1.

If purchased, the recalled product should either be disposed off or returned to the retail store from where it was bought in lieu of a complete refund.

The product should be thrown away in a sealed or double-bagged package in order to prevent other animals or people from eating it.

People handling the product need to wash their hands thoroughly after touching it.

The product contaminated with the virus might not appear or smell to be spoilt, but is capable of causing hepatitis to the person consuming it.

It also causes a self-limited disease that does not occur in chronic infection or chronic liver disease.

The sickness begins nearly after 15 to 50 days of consumption, and lasts between a week and up to six months.

The virus can cause liver inflammation, while its symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, low appetite, diarrhea and jaundice.

The recall was issued by the CFIA after the agency conducted an investigation into a foodborne sickness outbreak.
