Russian media sources have confirmed that Morocco has been the country benefiting the most from Russia's ban on the import of some foodstuffs from Turkey.
According to a report from the agency RBK, Morocco has become Russia's largest supplier of tomatoes and oranges, with Russian imports of these articles exceeding a value of $ 51 million in January and February 2016. Furthermore, Morocco is also one of the most important suppliers of food and juices in Europe.
Morocco's share of the Russian citrus market already amounts to 55.6 percent of the total, while that of vegetables stands at 30.2 percent, with 25.7 percent in the specific case of fresh tomatoes.
According to officials of the Moroccan Association of Citrus Exporters, Morocco plans to triple its exports of these products to Russia by the year 2018.
