US-based Baobab Foods has launched its Baobab Superfruit Chew in Europe, as an alternative to dried fruit ingredients.
The product is targeted at food manufacturers and private label brands to bring functionality and flavours to products, reported Nutritioninsight.com.
The superfruit chew contains baobab fruit, which contains several nutrients. It can also be added into a variety of products, including fruit and nut mixes, cereals and granolas, baking products, nutrition bars and ice creams.
Baobab Foods general manager Stephan Broburg was quoted by the website as saying: "BaoBites are a truly unique way to add natural antioxidants and a flavour punch to a variety of food products.
"And with our ability to subtly adjust the water activity, flavours and other nutritional ingredients, we can completely customise each order of BaoBites to suit multiple food applications and sectors, including frozen and bakery.
Baobab Superfruit Chew contains organic baobab fruit powder, real fruit concentrates and pectins.
It is claimed to contain only natural fruit sugars, is vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, free of cholesterol and allergens.
Baobab Foods is a leading exporter of baobab fruit from Africa. It also supplies organic baobab fruit powder and moringa leaf powder in global markets.
