Chinese delegation visits Thai banana plantations

Core Tip: A delegation of Chinese traders from Guangzhou recently visited banana plantations in Paya Meng Rai district, Chiang Rai province. The plantations have over 800,000 banana trees on 2,700 rai of land with some of the bananas bound for export to China.
A delegation of Chinese traders from Guangzhou recently visited banana plantations in Paya Meng Rai district, Chiang Rai province. The plantations have over 800,000 banana trees on 2,700 rai of land with some of the bananas bound for export to China.

Smith Thamchua, consul for agriculture attached to the Thai Consulate in Guangzhou and Pubate Chulayanont, chief of Paya Mengrai district led the delegation.

The Thai banana plantations are free from chemicals the district chief said. The bananas grown in Thailand are safe to eat while exports of all types of Thai fruits to China are expected to increase in value.
