The 7th Hubei (Qianjiang) Crawfish Festival will take place on 12nd to 16th June in Qianjiang, Hubei. It’s reported from the press conference of the festival held on 24th May that Qianjiang exported 0.19 billion US Dollars worth of crawfish, which accounted for more than 60% of the total crawfish export value of Hubei province. The big amount made Qianjiang the domestic largest crawfish export base. Meanwhile, Qianjiang sold more than 0.1 billion yuan worth of crawfish through the internet marketing.
Early Summer was the peak season of crawfish consumption. Crawfish delicay not only fueled the periphery tourism but also made the crawfish storm sweep across China. All kinds of online Qianjiang crawfish product, including braised crawfish, steamed crawfish, spicy crawfish ball, crawfish with pickled chilli and so on, could be bought from Taobao, Jingdong, Yihaodian and other e-commerce platforms. In a word, the online platform had everything that you expected to find.
Huang Jianxiong, the mayor of Qianjiang city, stated that with many lakes and rich water network in the region Qianjiang enjoyed unique natural environment appropriate for crawfish breeding and growth. Since 2001 up to now, by 15 years of exploration, innovation and development Qianjiang crawfish had developed into an integral industry, covering scientific demonstration, improved variety selection, fry production, healthy breeding, processing and export, catering service, cold chain logistics, deep processing, festival and cultural activities and so on. Qianjiang took the lead to formulate the local standards of crawfish breeding in the whole nation, for the first time creating crawfish-rice consecutive and simultaneous farming-like green ecology culture pattern. Qianjiang had already become the demonstration city of national standardized crawfish farming. What’s more, Qianjiang crawfish passed all the strict tests carried out by Western countries without any disqualification found.
In recent years, Qianjiang has devoted great efforts to press forward “internet plus crawfish” initiative, cooperating with Jingdong and Taobao to hold online crawfish festival. And Qianjiang built the first nationwide fresh live crawfish transaction platform, encouraging enterprises to launch internet marketing on e-commerce platform. Crawfish brother, crawfish king, crawfish queen and other online brands went into market. In 2015, the online Qianjiang crawfish turnover surpassed 0.1 billion yuan. Some enterprises even sold more than 15, 000 orders in just three days through internet marketing with sales more than 1.2 million yuan.
Up to now, several crawfish processing enterprise groups has been formed in Qianjiang, which can produce more than 10 categories of product, including the crawfish ball, whole crawfish, crawfish tail and so on with a processing ability of more than 300, 000 tonnes in just one year.
It’s know that to make it more appropriate for the crawfish to be sent from the breeding ponds to people’s tables, Qianjiang will guide the leading crawfish enterprises to build internet plus crawfish service platforms, develop new emerging distributions systems involving e-commerce, distribution and delivery, agencies, wholesales, mail orders and so on, and set up stable and rapid cold chain logistics distribution and delivery system, seeking to supply 15 billion high-quality crawfish fry and 4 billion finished crawfish up to 2020.
