According to report by United Daily News in Taiwan, Zhao Jianmin, deputy director of Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) of Taiwan, stated that its grouper export had increased sharply since Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) being singed between China mainland and Taiwan, whose whole output value between January and October this year had reached 0.1 billion US dollars, accounting for 33% of the total around the world.
He said many competitive agricultural products produced in Taiwan had been listed in the ECFA trading scope, which could gain access into mainland market. Statistics showed that export value of agricultural products shipped to China mainland between January and October this year was up to 95.70 million US dollars, growing by 154% year on year.
Especially for groupers, 18 transport ships of Taiwan carrying live fish gained access to any ports in China after ECFA was signed. Besides, customs duties also dropped down. Export value of live grouper only from January to October was as much as 79.66 million US dollars, growing by 192% year on year.
According to Zhao Jianmin, Taiwan had signed 16 treaties with China mainland in last three years, which laid clear practices for communications between two sides and would also boost bilateral relationships.
