Hinty’s Chili in Ontario, Canada is recalling their Black Bean and Yam Chili because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. A tiny amount of the botulinum toxin can cause illness and death. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are Black Bean and Yam Chili in two sizes. The first, approximately 500 ml jars, has no UPC number and the recall includes all units sold up to and including November 2, 2016. The second is 1 liter size. There is no UPC number on that product either. All units sold up to and including November 2, 2016 are recalled.

If you purchased these items, do not eat them. Do not even taste them. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package or secure garbage container, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
