This onion won’t bring a tear to your eye. The “Naked Onion” from the Netherlands is peeled right after it is harvested and thanks to its special packaging, the Naked Onion stays fresh for weeks and only has to be washed before use.
"This will give end users no reason to cry," said Chayenne Wiskerke from Wiskerke Onions at Fruit Logistica. The innovation, geared towards both private customers and large-scale consumers like restaurants, was presented at this year’s trade show for the first time.
Already available in Dutch supermarkets, the Naked Onion is also coming to shelves in France and Great Britain with more countries planned to follow.
