Jean Philippe is Commercial Director at Méchinaud. This French company, located in the Nantes region, offers small amounts of high quality fruits and vegetables. One of these products is cucumber flowers. Jean: "Our harvest allows us to serve Michelin Star restaurants, both in France and abroad.” The reason for the limited amount of cucumber flowers, is that it’s a complicated product to grow. Jean: “The flowers are harvested once or twice a day, so they don’t become too big."
Méchinaud specialises in the packaging of aromatic herbs, edible flowers, young shoots of salads, and mini vegetables. Jean: "We keep all these products on site. We’ve also developed a range of red fruits, asparagus, coloured vegetables, off season products, and exotics, all in the same spirit of offering upscale fruits and vegetables."
A good example of such a product are tomatoes grown on open ground. Méchinaud offers tomatoes from mid-June to September.
