The 22nd edition of Globoil India, the premier international conference on vegetable oil, feed and feed ingredients, oilseeds and oleo-chemicals, is slated to take place at Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, Powai, between September 26 and 28, 2018. It will be organised by Tefla’s under the patronage of the Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) of India.

Speaking about the fortification of oil at the curtain-raiser to the event, which took place in Mumbai, B V Mehta, executive director, SEA of India, said, “We are not following it mandatorily, but voluntarily, because there is no need for fortification of oil, as all the nutrients are already present.” He added that they ought to reduce the percentage of fat in vanaspati from five per cent to two per cent by 2022.

Atul Chaturvedi, president, SEA of India; chief executive officer, agri-business, Adani Group, and executive chairman, Renuka Sugars, said, “Since its inception, Globoil had emerged into a neutral platform over the years.” He added, “We keenly supported the vision of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to double farmers’ incomes by 2022.” Kailash Singh, managing director, Tefla’s, stated, “The Globoil Awards are the top accolades for the global oil industry, and seek to celebrate visionary leadership and exemplary performance.”

Over 1,000 business and ministerial delegates and about 100 exhibitors will participate in the event this year. These will not only be from India, but also represent such countries and regions as Argentina, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Middle-East, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The event, which commenced in 1997, is one of the world’s largest trade events in the agri space, and specifically focusses on edible oils and related industries. Over the past 22 years, it has become a key event on the calendars of all those associated with the global oilseeds, vegetable oil and oilmeal/feed market, and has been attracting leading industrialists, policy makers, domain experts and analysts, who do not just share their in-depth knowledge, but also crystal-gaze into the future.

The guests of honour for the event are Darmin Nasution, coordinating minister for economic affairs, Government of Indonesia; Ibu Ir Musdhalifah Machmud, deputy minister for food and agriculture, and coordinating minister for economic affairs, Government of Indonesia; Ram Vilas Paswan, minister for food, public distribution and consumer affairs, Government of India, and Shiv Pratap Shukla, minister of state for finance, Government of India.
