These municipalities have an area of 5,500 hectares devoted to avocado production, and this export project will benefit approximately 600 producers.
According to SAGARPA, this year Mexico will produce 2 million tons of avocado, 1.7 million tons of which will be exported.
According to data from the Agricultural Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), Puebla ranks 10th among the entities dedicated to avocado production in Mexico.
Puebla was the only State that had a 473% increase in agricultural food exports between 2015 and 2017, thanks to an increase in the shipment of vegetables, coffee, citrus fruits, fruit trees, aromatic and medicinal herbs, as well as agro-industrial products, such as coffee, mezcal, and honey.
