With petrol and diesel prices reaching new highs every day, vegetable prices in the city are also increasing. On Monday, petrol was sold at ₹ 80.04 (€0.97) per litre, while diesel was sold at ₹ 75.79 (€0.92) per litre. However, the prices of fuel will continue to rise on Tuesday with diesel to be sold at a record high of ₹ 75.99 per litre and petrol at a record high of ₹ 82.20.

The vegetable market will see further price rises when vegetables from states like Karnataka and Maharashtra arrive in the city.

On Monday, Muhana vegetable market remained closed because of Janmashtami. It re-opens on Tuesday. However, the retail prices of vegetables have seen a surge over the past one month. The vegetables are arriving from Jodhpur, Agra and Delhi. Potatoes, which are being supplied from storage from Agra saw slight increases in prices as well.

Apart from this, Jaipur receives vegetables from Kolkata, Shimla, Nasik and Pune. While reaching Jaipur from different parts of the country, the prices of vegetables have direct impact from fuel prices.

The Times of India expects the prices of vegetables to continue to rise until December.
