Core Tip: Pakistani agricultural experts advised their farmers to adopt tunnel technology for growing off-season vegetables.
Pakistani agricultural experts advised their farmers to adopt tunnel technology for growing off-season vegetables. A spokesman of the Agricultural Department stated on Tuesday that tunnel technology has already been adopted by progressive farmers and they were earning good money with this form of cultivation.

Until now it has been impossible for the growers to grow summer vegetables like cucumber, tomato, sweet chillis, green chillis, pumpkin, sponge gourd, bitter gourd, vegetable marrow, red gourd, Brinjal, water melon, musk melon manually during the winter. However, these vegetables can be grown easily and successfully in low, walk-in and high tunnels.

Tunnel-grown vegetables were covered by green fiber sheets to protect them from severe cold and frost during the winter. With this intensive care, farmers can raise their income substantially. That is why vegetable growers are recommended to get proper training with regard to tunnel farming.
