The Turkish Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Federation said in a statement last week that $ 646 million has been made from fruit exports, $ 465 million from citrus exports and $ 423 million from fresh vegetable exports, totaling $ 1.53 billion.
Tomato exports accounted for the largest share of all fruit and vegetable shipments, followed by lemons, cherries, figs, pumpkins, strawberries, cucumbers, plums, watermelons, pears and potatoes.
The value of tomato exports reached 218 million, 276 thousand and 416 dollars, and that of lemon exports amounted to 209 million, 914 thousand and 126 dollars. Cherry exports were worth 161 million, 688 thousand and 125 dollars.
Grape exports were worth 87 million, 263 thousand and 137 dollars; apple exports generated 74 million, 983 thousand and 536 dollars, and the value of pomegranate exports amounted to 41 million, 117 thousand and 925 dollars.
Russia ranked first among the largest importers of Turkish fruits and vegetables, followed by Germany, Iraq, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Poland, Belarus and the Netherlands.
Exports of fruits and vegetables to Russia were worth 416 million, 894 thousand and 456 dollars; those to Germany reached 169 million, 877 thousand and 272 dollars, and those to Iraq were worth 160 million, 573 thousand and 158 dollars.
