The first asparagus of the season were cut at New Forest Fruit on 22nd of February.
The company produces some of the earliest asparagus and strawberries in the UK, due the unique microclimate in the area.
"The asparagus in grown in 7HAs of unheated tunnels, initial volumes have been slow due to lack of light levels," said Sandy Booth, Director and owner of New Forest Fruits based in The New Forest, Hampshire.
"Demand has been very good as no one else is in the market at the moment. Quality is out of this world and hopefully consumers are all enjoying the first asparagus of the year and we thank them all for their support."
