The organic taro of Lipu County in Guangxi is an environment-friendly product with great popularity among consumers. The taro tuber has a pure fragrance and excellent flavor. It also has high nutritional value as it is rich in amino acids that many other kinds of fruit and vegetables do not possess. It is for this reason that taro has always enjoyed great popularity with consumers.
"The new production season of taro in Lipu County, officially began in mid-October. We estimate that it will continue until around April next year. The overall production volume decreased by around 20% this year as a result of insect pests and extreme weather conditions." This is according to Mr. Tang Jinghong of Pingle County Qinglong Village Rongfa Taro Farm.

"The price of taro in Lipu County increased because of the reduced production volume this year. The wholesale price is currently around 5 yuan [0.72 USD] per 0.5 kg, which is an increase of 25%-42% in comparison with the wholesale price of 3.5-4 yuan [0.50-0.58 USD] per 0.5 kg in the same period last year."

"We have around 6 hectares of taro plantation in Lipu County, Guangxi. All the product varieties that we produce and sell are ancient varieties handed down from the Qianlong period [1711-1799]. This variety is more fragrant, sweeter, stickier, and softer. We currently sell our organic taro products through traditional marketing channels in wholesale markets and supermarkets in first and second tier cities throughout China."
