According to the daily monitoring of the project, since the beginning of this week alone, carrot prices in the Ukrainian market have fallen by an average of 17%. Today, producers are offering these products for 5-7 UAH / kg ($ 0.18-0.25 per kg), depending on quality, whereas at the end of the previous working week they were not willing to sell for less than 6 UAH / kg ($ 0.21 per kg).
It is worth noting that, in addition to a falling demand, the situation in this segment is also aggravated by the stable supply of carrots from Belarus, which are offered at an average of 7 UAH / kg ($ 0.25 per kg).
Given these conditions, a number of growers have already announced their decision to suspend carrot sales. It is worth stressing that in this case, we are talking primarily about high quality products. They plan to resume sales only when the market situation improves, as they don't wish to sell at the current prices, despite the fact that, on average, these are currently 1.6 times higher than last year.
