NIFTEM seeks industry’s & SHGs’ help for food processing pilot project

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Kundli, Sonipat, Haryana, has sought the help of entrepreneurs, industry persons, food processors, farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), farmer producer organisations (FPOs) for its pilot plant project related to food processing. 
 
According to NIFTEM, “In order to cater to the needs of large-scale, medium, small and micro-scale enterprises in the food industry, NIFTEM is in the process of setting up four pilot plants within its campus, for fruit and vegetable processing, meat and poultry processing, milk and dairy products and ready-to-eat (RTE) and traditional food.”
 
The expression of interest (EoI) stated, “NIFTEM, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, has invited expressions of interest from entrepreneurs, industry persons, food processors, farmers, SHGs, FPOs, etc. for leasing/renting out the following facilities for food processing existing in the campus of NIFTEM in Kundli, Sonipat, Haryana: RTE products, Indian traditional food products, milk processing lines and dairy products, fruit and vegetable processing products and meat and poultry processing.”
 
“These plants will serve as business incubation centres for the existing food industries as well as budding entrepreneurs from both large-scale industries as well as medium, small and micro enterprises to incubate their ideas and also to facilitate in providing hands-on training to students, progressive farmers as well as the potential entrepreneurs,” it added.
 
The existing pilot plant consists of such facilities as a compound wall, wide roads, soft water and power supply, office space, complete utilities (steam, refrigeration, etc.), bank, canteen, food testing laboratories, incubation centre, including mentoring, etc. 
 
The notice stated, “Those who are interested to take the pilot plant on floor basis or on equipment basis as rental/lease may submit their EoI, along with the detailed profile of their company, activities proposed for taking the warehouse, financial capabilities, etc. to the address given below on or before November 15, 2018.”
