Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups Recalled For Possible Listeria Contamination

Core Tip: Apio, Inc., of Guadalupe, California is voluntarily recalling five SKUs of Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups (bowls) for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Apio, Inc., of Guadalupe, California is voluntarily recalling five SKUs of Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups (bowls) for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency told the company that one sample of the Kale/Chou Frise Doux flavor tested positive for the pathogen. Some of these products were recalled in Canada last week.

All products that were produced on the same day as the sample that tested positive for Listeria are being recalled out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.

The recalled products include:

Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Asian Sesame with UPC  number 7 09351 30241 1, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Avocado Ranch with UPC  number 7 09351 30177 3, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Raspberry Acai with UPC  number 7 09351 30178 0, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Sweet Kale with UPC number 7 09351 30240 4, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Tropical Lime with UPC number 7 09351 30179 7, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Avocado Ranch/Ranch ET Avocats with UPC number  7 09351 30195 7, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Raspberry Acai/Framboises ET Acai with UPC number 7 09351 30196 4, Lot 112 331
Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups – Sweet Kale/Chou Frisé Doux with UPC  number 7 09351 30243 5, Lot 112 331

These products were shipped to retail customers and distributors in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington. The product was shipped to these provinces in Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

If you bought any of these ready-to-eat products, don’t consume them. There is zero tolerance for Listeria monocytogenes contamination in ready-to-eat foods. Throw it away after wrapping it in foil or plastic wrap or return it to the store. Apio, Inc. has notified retail and distributor customers who received the product.
