The Austrian table potato market is quite stable. Despite short-term weather-related delays, farmers continue to supply traders as needed. Domestic sales are at the usual seasonal levels. Exports are hardly an issue this year, given the rapidly dwindling stockpiles. The rapid destocking is mainly due to the high, quality-related sortings.

Rapid Physiological Aging
In addition to Wireworm and Stolbur, the rapid physiological ageing of the goods in the stores is worrying. The producer prices saw no changes compared to last week. In Lower Austria, potatoes are still mostly taken over at €25 per 100 kg. For wire worm-free, small packable premium goods with the AMA quality label, up to €29 per 100 kg can be achieved. In Upper Austria last up to €27 per 100 kg were eing paid.

The increase in the onion prices continues
The Austrian onion market continues to be positive. The prices have stabilised at a high level. Occasionally they are going up somewhat again. Although exports have weakened somewhat recently, sales and the prices that can be achieved continue to be extremely satisfactory. The winter weather also brings new impulses in domestic sales. Domestic price increases are difficult to enforce. For onions, cleaned and sorted in the box, depending on the quality and size, between €48 and 52 per 100 kg are being paid.

Stable carrot market
The Lower Austrian carrot market is quite stable. A manageable supply meets a steady demand. Export inquiries are also increasing, but the main export focus is not expected until a few weeks from now. Surcharges for storage costs and storage losses have recently caused the prices in Germany go up.
