Azerbaijani producer ID Agropark launches a new brand of pomegranates of the variety "Minashirin" on the European market under the name Narvill, announces Irada Guliyeva, HR Director of the company.
Irada said, "We are very proud of this new brand. Minashirin is a unique variety of pomegranate, which is distinguished by bright red skin, a beautiful crown, and large arils. It has a sweet and sour taste and thick skin, which is good for export. Among more than 60 varieties of pomegranates grown in Azerbaijan, Minashirin is the top of the line".
"The weight of a fruit of this variety reaches 700 grams. It is a real vitamin-mineral complex, as it contains essential amino acids and the main vitamins of the human body: C, B6, B12, and K, as well as minerals: iodine, potassium, calcium, iron, and silicon. Its fruits keep their freshness and unusual taste for a long time," she continued.
The grower, located in the Saatli region of southern Azerbaijan, enjoys a climate that is conducive to pomegranate production, explains Irada: "Azerbaijan has 9 out of the 11 climatic zones, and each region is known for its endemic diseases. In Saatli, the climate is dry and semi-arid, and the soil is salty, which is suitable for growing pomegranates.
As for volumes, Irada says, "This season we expect about 5,000 to 6,000 tons. Our trees are maturing, which increased the yield compared to last year."
So far, Agropark ID has only exported pomegranates to CIS countries: "The demand has been very high and Minashirins have met a warm welcome. This year we are ready to expand the market and start exporting to Europe. Our first target countries are Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands," concludes Irada.
