No unqualified samples were found in 100 batches of candy and 50 batches of jelly.

Experts from the General Administration of Market Supervision and Administration said that sulfur dioxide, potassium pyrosulfite and sodium sulfite are commonly used bleaching agents and preservatives in food processing, which will produce sulfur dioxide residues after use. A small amount of sulfur dioxide into the human body will not cause health hazards, but if overconsumed, it may cause a variety of gastrointestinal discomfort including nausea, vomiting.
