The Canada Herb recall in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination is being updated. On January 20, 2019, their Red Chili was recalled for Salmonella. Now, the company’s Fish Mint is being recalled. There have been no illnesses reported in connection with this issue to date.
The recall product is Canada Herb Fish Mint in variable weight packages. The code on the product is LOT: 1721-0060 13/FEB or all packages sold up to and including February 19, 2019. There is no UPC number on the package. Fish Mint is a product of Vietnam. This product may also have been sold in bulk or in smaller packages with or without a label. If you aren’t sure if you bought this item, check with your retail store.
The Canada Herb Red Chili was sold in Newfound and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. It was also sold in variable weights and may have been sold in bulk. All packages up to and including January 20, 2019 are recalled. That product did also not have a UPC number.
If you bought this item, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
The recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of more products. The government is making sure that industry is removing this product from store shelves.
After you have discarded these products, clean our your refrigerator or pantry with a mild bleach solution to kill any pathogens. Wash your hand well with soap and water after handling these products.
