According to the latest data released by the Drinks Business, the authoritative international liquor industry media, in 2018, China's liquor imports totaled 687.5 million litres, a decrease of 8.26% and a total import of 2.85 billion dollars, an increase of 2.12% over the same period. According to the report, this data is slightly different from the previous 8.95% decrease in alcohol imports and 1.1% increase in total imports issued by the General Administration of Customs of China. The main reason is that the Chamber of Commerce statistics are from member units including alcohol importers and distributors, while customs data are from importers and logistics companies. From the national point of view, compared with the data of the General Administration of Customs, the import volume of liquor from France, Australia, Spain and Italy declined last year. According to the Chamber of Commerce, at least the import volume of bottled liquor from France declined.
Among the top ten wine import countries in China in 2018, France still ranks first, with imports of 174 million litres, a decrease of 21.06% and imports of 1.058 billion dollars, a decrease of 3.08% over the same period. The second and third countries are Australia and Chile, with imports of 119 million litres, 723 million dollars, 74.67 million litres and 270 million dollars, respectively. The fourth to tenth countries are Italy, Spain, the United States, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina and Germany.
