The Myanmar Ministry of Commerce announced that seasonal fruits such as apple, peach, mangoes, lemon and others will be allowed to be imported out of their seasons from areas bordering the nation.
According to the decision made on April 9, 2019 by the management committee of the Ministry, some fruits which are not grown in Myanmar have been allowed to import from border areas. These fruits are apples, grapes, peaches, cherry, sweet tamarind, and dates. Specific time frames will be set for import of fruits.
Honey orange will be imported from March to September, Durian from September to April, Rambutan from September to March from Mywawaddy border gate, and from Tachelik border gate, it has allowed for import of this fruit all year round.
Dragon fruit will be imported from December to May from all border gates, Sunkist from February to May and small oranges were allowed to be imported all year round. Jack fruits will be imported from January and February, while Logan, lemon will be imported all year round. Import of these season fruits from border areas will be changed depending on the local production, said the Trade Department.
