Anyone who is allergic to fish who eats this product could experience a severe allergic reaction. No illness or allergic reactions have been reported to date in connection with this recalled item.

The ready-t0-eat HEB Chef salad with ham and turkey was produced on May 10 and May 13, 2019. The recalled product is 9.65 ounce clear plastic packages containing “H.E.B. Meal Simple Chef Salad with Homestyle Ranch Dressing.” The product has “best by” dates 05-18-19 and 05-20-19 on the label. These salads have the establishment number “EST. P-27399” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label. They were shipped to retail locations in Texas.

If you purchased this HEB Chef salad with ham and turkey and are allergic to anchovies, or fish, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

FSIS is making sure this product is removed from store shelves and that the company is notifying its customers about this recall.
The symptoms of an allergic reaction can range from mild to severe. Mild symptoms, that usually start when the food is first eaten, include tingling of the mouth, lips, and tongue, and itching. More severe symptoms include swelling of the lips, face, tongue, and throat, hives, wheezing, abdominal pain, and trouble breathing.
