The Hass Avocado Board (HAB) is partnering in June with Livestrong.com in an effort to promote the health benefits of eating a fresh avocado daily. Engaging a potential online audience of over 32 million health-focused consumers, tactics center around a month-long avocado challenge where thousands of dedicated members of the Livestrong.com Facebook community will be encouraged to enjoy an avocado each day, share their favorite recipes and promote how the delicious and nutritious fruit is supporting their healthy living goals.
“A strategic partnership with Livestrong.com aligns with HAB’s goals to raise awareness among consumers that avocados are nutritious and connect health professionals with our research on avocado nutrition,” said Emiliano Escobedo, Executive Director of the Hass Avocado Board. “This campaign provides a national platform for Fresh Avocados, Love One Today to spread education, highlight new nutritional and health studies and inspire daily consumption of fresh avocados in meaningful and memorable way.”
The interactive campaign will be supported by custom online content and a national survey designed especially to get a pulse check on the perceptions of the Livestrong.com audience when it comes to fresh avocados and where they fit in a healthy diet. Additional strategic tactics include digital ads, social media promotion, healthy avocado recipes on Livestrong.com’s award winning app MyPlate and national public relations. According to the company, health benefits of fresh avocados include improved heart health, weight management, maintaining normal glucose and insulin levels for people with type 2 diabetes and overall healthy living. New HAB research that recently found eating fresh avocados regularly is linked to healthy body weight is featured along with under 500 calorie recipes and how-to videos at a new campaign landing page.
HAB said its promotion of Fresh Avocados, Love One Today with Livestrong.com includes outreach to health professionals and Hispanics.
