US-based sausage products producer YOUBITE is recalling 7,197lb of pork sausage and turkey sausage products.

The company has issued a recall as products contained either natural sheep or natural pork casings, which were not declared on the product label.

According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the products were produced on various dates from 9 October 2018 to 9 October 2019.

Products that are subject to recall include, 1lb vacuum-sealed packages containing fully cooked, ready-to-eat, ‘YOUBITE Turkey Knacks Wieners’, ‘YOUBITE Nurnbergs Turkey Brats’, ‘YOUBITE Grillwurst Turkey Brats’ and ‘YOUBITE Spicy Grillwurst Turkey Bratwurst’.

The recall also includes 0.8lb vacuum-sealed packages containing fully cooked, ready-to-eat ‘YOUBITE Rheinlaender Fully Cooked and Smoked Pork Links’ as well as ‘YOUBITE Irish Bratwurst’ and 0.75lb vacuum-sealed packages containing raw ‘YOUBITE German Lollipop Bratwurst’ Sausages.

Sold to consumers at farmers markets in Southern California, the items subject to recall bear establishment number ‘M-45475’ or ‘P-45475’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

FSIS noted that the issue was identified during its routine inspection activities.

So far, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been reported as a result of the consumption of the products.

FSIS stated that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers were urged not to consume the products and to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

The recall has been categorised as Class II, a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences following the use of the product.

In January, US-based company R L Zeigler recalled 11,664lb of ready-to-eat (RTE) poultry and meat sausage products, as they may have been contaminated with pieces of metal.
