Core Tip: A joint venture (JV) between Italian-based Silvateam Food Ingredients and German JRS Group has been closed.
A joint venture (JV) between Italian-based Silvateam Food Ingredients and German JRS Group has been closed. The companies will join forces in the production and sales of pectin and texturizing systems as well as in the distribution of tara gum. According to the announcement, the JV will invest significantly in the development and production of novel vegetable-based texturizing solutions that have high consumer acceptance. This is in response to the increasing demand for label-friendly food ingredients.

The groups aim “to build a world-class player for food ingredients.”

“The JV will allow our group to accelerate the investment plan in the food ingredients sector,” says Antonio Battaglia, President of the Advisory board of Silvateam Food Ingredients,.

“We have developed a growing worldwide market for our products and we are about to start investing in a significant new product line. This joint venture will leverage both partners’ technical competences, R&D know-how and commercial network synergies with significant positive impacts on market penetration,” continues Battaglia.

He adds that both the Battaglia and Rettenmaier will start a new journey together and that this is confirmation that the choice made over ten years ago to invest in the food ingredients space was a winner.

As a global player in insoluble dietary fiber and functional food hydrocolloids, the JRS Group seeks to strengthen its portfolio with pectin, tara gum and functional texturizing systems.

The portfolio of JRS Silvateam Ingredients Srl., in particular, complements JRS’s alginate and cellulose product lines in a synergistic way and also enables solutions for extended functional texturizing systems.

“Together with Silvateam, we enhance our position for vegetable-based and label-friendly food ingredients,” comments Josef Otto Rettenmaier, President and CEO of the JRS Group.
