More vegetables will be sent to the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption as local farmers and traders continue with their relief operation. Agot Balanoy of the League of Associations in the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post said they have gathered 3,000 kilograms of assorted highland vegetables from their members.

“We hope our donations will bring relief to the evacuees,” Balanoy told the Inquirer. Balanoy said the vegetables would be delivered to Batangas province on Sunday, and the Department of Agriculture in Cordillera would lend its truck for the delivery.

Last month, vegetable farmers and traders in Benguet have also donated their harvests to flood-ravaged Apayao province, which was hit by Typhoons “Quiel” and “Ramon.”

Earlier, a group of farmers around Mt. Pulag started delivering vegetables to the victims of the volcano eruption. In Mountain Province, Sagada farmers on Wednesday also sent out their donations of sayote and other vegetables to the Batangas evacuees with the help of the local government unit.
