Moroccan scientist, Ahmed Chadli, has just discovered a mushroom with anticancer properties. A biochemist at the Department of Medicine of the Georgia Cancer Center and associate professor at Augusta University in the United States, he has recently discovered that the fusarium tricinctum could prove useful in the fight against cancer.
The mushroom indeed contains the EnnA peptide, a component that has shown promising results against aggressive triple-negative breast cancer, since it directly inhibits HSP90. It could therefore help prevent attacks to the immune system.
The Moroccan biochemist has received a 1.8 million USD grant from the National Cancer Institute. For the moment, he has not observed any side effects but he is continuing his study to move on to the clinical protocol stage on patients.
