Guacamole has definitely made its way into homes across the country. Mercadona's guacamole is one of the best sellers in Spain. This popular avocado-based, fresh, tasty, and healthy food is of Mexican origin; however, the most purchased guacamole in Spain comes from Andalusia.
The guacamole sold at Mercadona is manufactured by Frutas Montosa, a company from Malaga that works with avocado and has an annual turnover of 140 million euro.
According to the company, it began to manufacture guacamole in 2011 using the most advanced technology, such as Cold Press techniques, thanks to an agreement with Mercadona. Frutas Montosa has several machines that allow it to carry out Cold Press techniques that guarantee the product is preserved perfectly, without altering its taste or qualities.
"We were the first to have high-pressure processing technology (HPP) because avocado, and specifically guacamole, involve complex and sophisticated production. This technology allows us to respect the original freshness of the raw material, increasing its shelf life thanks to the inactivating effect of high pressures, which prevents oxidation," the company stated. The product marketed by Mercadona is made with 95% avocado.
Mango Sauce
Thanks to the knowledge it acquired preparing guacamole, Frutas Montosa has developed a mango-based dip sauce, in response to new trends and to enter a market increasingly open to new flavors.
