Yesterday, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque said that the soaring onion prices will come down after imports and summer harvest arrive in the market within 15 to 20 days. “Onions are perishable items and their prices normally go up at the end of the season because of having no efficient way to stock them,” he added. Also, Razzaque urged scientists and researchers to work hard to innovate sustainable species and technologies to fight the food safety challenges of the future.
The minister further told dhakatribune.com: “We have no shortage of food, rather we have surplus production of potatoes, vegetables and fruits. We want to export surplus agro-products across the globe.”
