According to Dang Hoang Giang, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement creates an opportunity for Vietnamese cashew nuts to export directly to the EU market.
In the first six months of 2021, cashew growers have exported more than 232,400 tons of cashew nuts with export turnover of above US$1.5 billion, up 16.2 percent in volume and 1 percent in value compared to the same period last year. Experts said that Vietnam’s agricultural products still have lots of export potential in European countries as they are favored by consumers, especially cashew nuts, which are good for health and support the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
As the EVFTA will officially become effective from August this year, it will facilitate the entry of Vietnamese agricultural products to the EU market.
