Following claims that vegetable prices had risen by as much as 200%, nationwide checks are being conducted in Malaysia by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry. Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid has stated that the inspections that were already done covered all levels of the distribution network, including suppliers, wholesalers and retailers.
Rosol has also stated that a total of 1,000 price monitoring officers were assigned to monitor 1,500 locations daily. It is their task to review and record changes in vegetable prices in the market.
