A hailstorm with moderate rains caused havoc in Nagpur district on Sunday afternoon. It flattened crops in many parts of the district including parts of Kalmeshwar, Nagpur, Katol, Saoner and the Narkhed talukas of Nagpur district. According to information, the hailstorm caused losses of hundreds of thousands of hectares of crops at Kohali, Savandri, Mohopa, Khairi Harji, Uparwahi, Lonara, Ghogali, Ghorad, Khapri, Ubali, Linga, Ladai, Dahegaon Shelu, Kalambi, Dahegaon, Kohali, Savadri, Mohopa, Lohgad, among other areas.

On Friday and Saturday, standing crops like wheat, grain and orange were damaged in different parts of Yavatmal due to heavy showers and hailstorms. The district has recorded average 4mm rain and crops on 239 hectares were damaged. It is reported that villages like Mulava, Pophali, Ladkhed and Mahagaon were affected.

Hailstorm damages apple crop in Hoshiarpur
A sudden hailstorm has damaged the crop of Punjab's first apple grower Gurinder Singh Bajwa, who has now sought subsidy on anti-hail nets as provided by neighbouring Himachal Pradesh. Head of the Department, agriculture, Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof P.K. Pati said there wasn't much a farmer could do in case of a hailstorm except use anti-hail nets.
