Over the past two weeks, the average wholesale price for smooth short cucumbers in Uzbekistan has decreased by 29%, the first drop in prices for these products in a growing trend formed since mid-July of this year. However, this price decline will be short-lived and cucumber prices will likely continue to rise in the next few weeks, EastFruit analysts believe.

In mid-July, EastFruit wrote that wholesale prices for cucumber had reached their minimum this year, and over the next few weeks, an upward trend would form in the price dynamics for these products. As predicted, a growing trend has formed in wholesale prices for smooth short cucumbers in Uzbekistan. From the first ten days of July to the end of August, the average wholesale price for these products increased from 3,000 to 8,500 sum/kg (from $0.26 to $0.70) – 2.8 times in a month and a half.

Over the past two weeks, there has been a decrease in the dynamics of wholesale prices for smooth short cucumbers: from September 1 to September 15, 2023, the average wholesale price for these products decreased from 8,500 to 6,000 sum/kg (from $0.7 to $0.49). As of September 15, 2023, the average wholesale price for smooth short cucumber is almost the same as at the same date last year but a third higher than on the same date in 2021.

Perhaps we should expect a further decline in prices for another week or two, but this decrease will be short-lived, and cucumber prices will continue to rise along the upward trend formed since mid-July of this year, EastFruit analysts predict.
