Wales to introduce mandatory food hygiene rating scheme

Core Tip: The Welsh Government is set to introduce its Food Hygiene Rating Bill, which is designed to provide consumers with better access to information about where they eat or buy food and raise food hygiene practices among businesses.
Under food hygiene rating scheme, food businesses such as restaurants, takeaways and supermarkets in Wales should display food hygiene ratings at their premises.
The introduction of a mandatory food hygiene rating scheme would be the UK's first compulsory scheme.
According to the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), it has worked closely with the Welsh Government on its proposals to introduce this legislation.
