Core Tip: Zaccanelli Food Group has acquired Hofmann Sausage Company, a US-based producer of hot dogs and sausages, with help from Oneida Nation Enterprises, who is the lead investor in the deal.

The Hofmann Sausage Company, headquartered in Syracuse, New York, was founded in 1879.

Zaccanelli Food, which is based in Dallas, plans to transform Hofmann hot dogs and sausages into a national and international brand. Hofmann products are currently sold in central New York and other markets along the East Coast.

The sausages may be introduced in 67 Albertsons supermarkets and possibly in Mexico. However, the sausages will be continued to be produced in Syracuse.

In addition, Zaccanelli Food also plans to open a chain of restaurants called 'Hofmann's World's Greatest Hotdogs' in the Dallas area. Frank Zaccanelli will be the new CEO of Hoffman Sausage Company.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
